MicroFab research and development areas include microelectronics manufacturing, biomedical applications, photonics manufacturing, and high quality ink-jet printheads. Most of these diverse efforts are based on adaptation of ink-jet printing technology as a means to dispense picoliter volumes of molten metals, electro-active polymers, bioactive fluids, chemicals for synthesis, optical polymers, etc.
The key researchers of MicroFab have a combined total of over 130 person-years of experience in the analysis, design, fabrication, manufacturing, and testing of ink-jet devices and printing systems. MicroFab holds 40 patents related to applications of ink-jet technology, and has a number applications pending. In addition, MicroFab personnel are the inventors on 27 patents that are held by our commercial customers.
